Oh Perry Bible Fellowship, I Miss Thee
What can be said about a 2 year dead web comic that changed the world, that hasn’t already been said. Perry Bible Fellowship made me not want to be an artist. It was that good, it stifled competition. It made everyone else look like pikers. It is the pinnacle of its form… and the artist quit!?! He gave up. He might be making awesome stuff somewhere else raking in tons of cash. I don’t care. I want my PBF back! Is it selfish, probably… His comic was like a gorgeous combination of Gary Larson nihilism with hand skills that are 1,000 X better than anyone else in the game. He didn’t have to pin himself down to a particular style, he just did whatever fit the comic.. and he did it immaculately.
He got a book deal, published his book and quit the comic… ARRGHH! That would be like Michael Jordan winning a few championships and then quitting and playing baseball… wait. You get my point. If you are unfamiliar with it, check it out. Soak it up. Enjoy the menagerie.
